Welcome back to The Contour Edit, where we explore the latest in luxury aesthetics treatments. Today, we're diving into the world of PRP under-eye injections, a remarkable treatment for rejuvenating and revitalizing the delicate under-eye area. If you've been searching for a non-surgical way to soften those pesky dark circles and fine lines, you're in the right place.

WHAT IS PRP (PLATELET RICH PLASMA)?
PRP is like nature's own healing elixir, derived from your very own blood. PRP is Platelet Rich Plasma aka concentrated platelets that release natural growth factors that work their magic to promote tissue healing, stimulate new cell growth and more blood flow to a stagnant area. This versatile treatment can be applied topically, injected into the skin or hair, or combined with procedures like microneedling to achieve your desired outcome.
The beauty of PRP lies in its compatibility with your body—there's little to no downtime and minimal side effects. It's 100% natural, free from additives and chemicals, and brimming with your own regenerative growth factors, ready to work its wonders on your skin. These growth factors, when introduced via injection, spark collagen production, creating a bright, radiant appearance.
WHAT ARE PRP UNDER-EYE INJECTIONS?
When we inject PRP under the eyes, it serves as a remarkable skin booster. In the first few days following your injections, we witness a noticeable brightening of the skin and significant improvements in texture. These results occur as the potent growth factors work their magic, nourishing the delicate tear trough area and revitalizing it.
Now, let's talk about the main benefit of PRP under-eye injections - collagen production. It's a gradual process, and clients typically begin to notice subtle yet natural firming enhancement within 3-4 weeks after each treatment. Patience is key with PRP injections but it is well worth the wait if you’re looking for natural results!
HOW DO I PREPARE FOR PRP UNDER-EYE INJECTIONS?
Just like most facial injections, the primary side effects typically involve bruising and swelling, which is why it's crucial to steer clear of any blood-thinning medications. We recommend that our clients refrain from taking medications and supplements known to thin the blood, including aspirin, ibuprofen, naproxen, vitamin E, and fish oil, for at least 7 days before their scheduled appointment.
It's also important to remember that the more potent and healthy your PRP is, the better your results will be. That's why we tell our clients that if they want to get the most out of their treatment we recommend eating more dark, leafy greens and taking Vitamin B and iron supplements for 7 days leading up to their appointment. We also encourage high intensity exercise and discourage alcohol consumption and smoking. We also recommend avoiding cured meats, dairy, refined grains and sugar, cranberry juice and tonic water.
WHAT IS THE PROCEDURE LIKE?
PRP under-eye injections may sound scary, but they really shouldn't be. The treatment begins with a quick blood draw, followed by the extraction of platelet rich plasma using a centrifuge. While the PRP is spinning in the centrifuge, your Practitioner will apply a topical numbing cream. After allowing about 15 minutes for the numbing cream to take effect, and once enough PRP has been collected, the actual injections begin. The PRP is carefully re-injected into the areas requiring rejuvenation, in this case, the under-eyes. Some patients may experience a tingling sensation and slight pressure during the injection, which quickly dissipates.
After treating the under-eyes, if there is any PRP left over, your practitioner may recommend injecting into other areas such as the neck (for horizontal neck lines) or the scalp (for hair restoration) at no additional charge.
Our trained and experienced professionals ensure that PRP injections are administered safely, reducing the risk of complications. Each treatment takes approximately 30 minutes and optimal results are obtained in a treatment series of 3 occurring 3-4 weeks apart followed by biannual to annual treatments for maintenance.
WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT FOLLOWING TREATMENT?
PRP under-eye injections typically involve minimal downtime and side effects. Following treatment, you should expect some significant under-eye swelling. The “swelling”, which is actually the PRP we injected, will absorb into the skin over the following 48 hours (fun fact - 50% will be absorbed within the first 12 hours!). There is also a chance of pinpoint bruising, which may last up to two weeks.
As for downtime, most people can resume their normal activities the next day, following some simple aftercare instructions provided by our professionals. It’s important to note that you want to minimize exercise for the first 48 hours to reduce the risk of further swelling or bruising.
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?
Individual PRP injections are $800; however, if you've never had PRP under-eye injections before, we strongly recommend a series of 3 or 4 treatments to achieve the best possible results. Our treatment packages come in 3, 4 or 6 sessions and are significantly more cost effective than paying per treatment. See below for the pricing breakdown
$800 per session
$2,100 for a package of 3 ($700 each treatment, save $200)
$2,400 for a package of 4 ($600 each treatment, save $800)
$3,000 for a package of 6 ($500 each treatment, save $1,800)
HOW DO I KNOW IF I'M A GOOD CANDIDATE FOR PRP INJECTIONS?
It's important to note that PRP injections may not be suitable for you if any of the following conditions apply:
Autoimmune Disease & Sinusitis: If you have these conditions, please discuss with your healthcare provider.
Active Infection or Disease: This includes any condition, especially if it's located in the area where the treatment is intended.
Cut or Broken Skin: PRP injections should not be administered on skin that is currently cut or broken.
Hemorrhagic Disorder or Hematologic Dysfunction: If you have a bleeding disorder or issues with your blood's ability to clot, PRP injections may not be advisable.
Active Cancer Diagnosis: If you're currently undergoing treatment for cancer or have an active cancer diagnosis, PRP injections may not be recommended.
Surgery: If you've had a rhinoplasty or any nasal surgery within 6 months.
Vaccinations: We do not recommend PRP injections within 2 weeks before or after a new vaccine.
Additionally, if you're over the age of 65, it's possible that your platelet count may be lower. However, this isn't always the case. It's essential to discuss your specific situation with your provider during your consultation to determine the best course of action.

WHY WE LOVE IT:
Reduction of Dark Circles: PRP injections help improve the appearance of dark circles under the eyes. By stimulating blood flow and skin rejuvenation, PRP can diminish the discoloration that often contributes to dark circles and brighten the under-eye area.
Diminished Fine Lines and Wrinkles: One of the primary benefits of PRP under-eye injections is it's ability to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. The growth factors in PRP stimulate collagen production, which helps smooth out the skin.
Tightening of Loose Skin: PRP promotes the production of collagen and elastin fibers in the skin. This increased collagen production can lead to tighter and firmer skin, reducing the sagging or loose skin that can occur under the eyes.
Improved Skin Texture: PRP can enhance the texture of the under-eye area. It can help smooth out rough or uneven skin, such as crepey skin, creating a more youthful and refreshed appearance.
Puffiness Reduction: PRP injections can reduce puffiness under the eyes by increasing blood flow and promoting lymphatic drainage in the area. This can result in a more refreshed and less tired appearance.
Long-Lasting Results: While PRP under-eye treatments are not permanent, they offer long-lasting results. Many individuals experience improvements that last anywhere from six months to a year or more, depending on their unique skin and lifestyle factors.
Natural-Looking Results: PRP injections provide natural-looking results because they harness your body's own healing processes. This means that the changes occur gradually and harmoniously with your existing features, avoiding the "overdone" appearance sometimes associated with more invasive procedures.
